Hunter King is playfully throwing her sister Joey King under the wedding bus — all in good fun, of course.
During the sisters’ joint appearance on the Sibling Revelry with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson podcast, the conversation turned to their respective destination weddings. When Oliver Hudson asked whose nuptials were better, Hunter didn’t hesitate.
“Joey’s,” answered Hunter, who tied the knot with Chris Copier earlier this year in Tuscany.
After laughing at her own answer, she quickly added: “Don’t tell Chris I said that!”
Joey, 27, immediately pushed back, insisting, “That is not true!”
But Hunter, 32, stood by her playful assessment, praising the details of her sister’s Mallorca wedding: “It was just so beautiful. The setting was so gorgeous, the flowers. I feel like usually people are like, ‘Oh, you don’t really remember the flowers.’ I remember her flowers. They were stunning.”
Both sisters had destination weddings following legal ceremonies in the U.S. Joey was the first to walk down the aisle. She married director Steven Piet at La Fortaleza in Mallorca, Spain, in September 2023. Three years later, in June 2026, Hunter said “I do” to Copier at La Torre sulla via Francigena in Tuscany, Italy. The actresses were each other’s bridesmaids.
Joey defended her sister’s wedding, calling it “beautiful.” But she also revealed that she had to convince Hunter to share her vows aloud at her Tuscany ceremony.
“She was considering doing a ceremony without reading their vows aloud because she was, like, afraid of the public speaking aspect,” Joey said. “I was like, ‘I will kill you if you don’t read your vows out loud. What are we doing here if you’re not reading your vows?'”
Hunter ultimately did read her vows aloud — and it was a moment she’ll never forget. “Hearing Chris’s vows is something I’ll carry with me forever. There wasn’t a dry eye anywhere,” she previously told PEOPLE.
The sisters’ weddings reflected their distinct personalities. Joey’s Mallorca celebration was attended by approximately 115 guests and included a party bus that even had grandma on board.
Hunter, on the other hand, wanted something much more intimate. Just 38 guests attended her “super tiny” wedding in Tuscany. But even that felt like “a lot” to Hunter, who has spoken openly about struggling with “very bad social anxiety.”
Speaking to PEOPLE shortly after her Tuscany wedding, Hunter explained that above all else, she wanted the day to feel like an “intimate dinner party” where a wedding just happened to be taking place.
“We’re pretty laid-back people, so it was important that the day felt like us,” she shared. “Cozy, romantic, garden party vibes with incredible food, great conversation and everyone we love gathered around one table. That’s exactly how it felt.”
The King sisters actually share a quirky family tradition when it comes to their legal weddings. Both Hunter and Joey — along with their sister Kelli — got legally married at Same Day Marriage in North Hollywood.
“I did what both Joey and Kelli did. It’s like a tradition now. We got married at samedaymarriage.com in North Hollywood. It says .com on there. It’s a great establishment,” Hunter explained.
For her legal ceremony, Joey got married at Same Day Marriage in August 2023, a month before her Spain destination wedding. She shared photos from the day on Instagram, revealing that her mom made her a bouquet from the dollar store and the family went bowling afterward.
Hunter’s legal wedding on Valentine’s Day was equally unconventional. After saying “I do” at Same Day Marriage, she took her immediate family to their favorite tiki bar. And then she made everyone dress up and go to Medieval Times.
“It was a blast,” she said.
Joey also shared some of the more chaotic details of her sister’s wedding events: “It was so fun. We had a party bus. Grandma was on the party bus. We were all dressed up.”
The podcast appearance highlighted the King sisters’ close relationship and their willingness to support each other — even when it means gently teasing one another. Joey, who is currently starring in Practical Magic 2 and generating significant public interest, has spoken warmly about her sister’s wedding.
And Hunter made it clear that despite the friendly trash talk, she adores her own wedding too. In her PEOPLE interview following her Tuscany ceremony, she described the day as a “dream come true” and said marrying Copier feels like “coming home.”
The couple met in 2022 on the set of Give Me Your Eyes, where King starred and Copier worked as an assistant director. They got engaged on the beach in Santa Barbara in October 2024. Copier proposed on the beach — and Hunter joked she’d marry his “ass.” Their relationship has been a true Hollywood romance, with the couple also working together professionally on Copier’s directorial debut, Rabisu: Curse of the Demon.
Hunter’s playful “don’t tell Chris” comment quickly became the most memorable moment of the podcast appearance. But it was clearly delivered in jest, and her husband Copier likely has nothing to worry about. In fact, the couple has been happily married since their Tuscany wedding, with Copier described as a “laid-back” partner who fits perfectly with the actress’s personality.
As Hunter said after her Italian ceremony: “Getting married to Chris feels like coming home.”
